Description
Here's a screenshot of my Big Mac's (Quad-Core PowerPC G5 Tower) desktop as it appeared from April 2010 to May 2012. I made this desktop to match the design of our previous apartment.
The shelves on the right are exactly the same as the ones we had in our previous living-room (now in the bedroom). They are based on Deluxive Shelf Pack PSD by Deluxive.
Wall shelves (based on Shelf PSD kit by omercetin):
The sofa, lamp and baseboard were edited from Sofa PSD by GhostFight3r
The coffee table was based on Icon Shelf by MrForScreen, who seems to have left dA.
I think I covered all the resources used. Let me know if I missed someone.
In the comming week I'm going to retire this desktop. Why? Well, notice the low resolution (1280x1024)... this desktop was designed for a really crummy screen I had that I could barely make out colors properly on. Today I got a hand-me-down IBM ThinkVision screen (Circa 2004). Other than being huge and taking up my entire desk it is a huge step up from my old screen. The resolution is crazy (2048x1536) so I'll be doing a lot less scrolling in PS. Happy Days!
EDIT: The wallpaper is now available here.

- Top Shelf (3 hard-drives attached to Big Mac):
- Big Mac HD icon from Dock icon set IX by willylorbo
- Fries HD icon hacked from French Fries Icon by Ceku
- Soda HD icon hacked from Coca Cola and Fanta Can Icon by NKspace
- 2nd Shelf:
- The icon for my Games folder (Sega Genesis Controller by The-Penciler) is my 6 button controller of choice for my console of choice, Sega Genesis (I actually play games on my Genesis more often than any of my other consoles).
- Faxes (icon here) is a folder that my HP OfficeJet 4500 automatically sends received faxes to.
- Photos (Canon 400D + lens-17-85mm by DDrDark matches the camera I got my wife for her 28th birthday and links to all the beautiful photos she's taken with it.
- 3rd Shelf:
- Bender and Lychee (icons here) are Screen Sharing links to two other Mac in my home network.
- Artwork's icon features the DeviantArt logo (hacked from DA Logo PNGs by madFusion15) because, well, most of my art gets posted up on dA.
- 4th Shelf:
- My Websites icon is a slightly altered version of Internet Globe by Mythique-Design.
- The various box icons are hacked versions of the amzaing Boxes 2 by Adam3k.
- Downloads icon is an altered version of Download Icon by AgentCosmic.
Wall shelves (based on Shelf PSD kit by omercetin):
- The "Now Playing" shelf automatically displays the album art of the track currently playing in iTunes, let's me control itunes directly from my desktop and even auto fetches lyrics (all powered by TunesArt). The "Now Playing" sign is a hacked version of WEB UI Treasure Chest v 1.0 by LazyCrazy.
- The book shelf features a few books from the Dune series by Frank Herbert. I have all the book in the series, including the ones by his son Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. That's 21(!) books from the Dune series alone.
